The Journal of Clinical and Translational Dentistry (JCTD), published by Genesis Publishing Consortium Limited (GPCL), is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality research that bridges the gap between basic science and clinical practice in dentistry. The journal provides an academic platform for scholars, practitioners, and researchers to share cutting-edge findings and innovative practices that improve patient outcomes and enhance oral healthcare systems.

JCTD focuses on translational research that integrates scientific discoveries with practical applications in clinical settings. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, restorative and prosthetic dentistry, endodontics, periodontology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatric and preventive dentistry, dental biomaterials, regenerative and molecular dentistry, oral epidemiology and public health, diagnostic techniques and technologies,  digital dentistry and artificial intelligence and many more.  As an international journal, JCTD thrives on the expertise, insights, and dedication of its reviewers to maintain the highest standards of scholarly publishing.

Qualifications and requirements

JCTD is seeking dental professionals and researchers who meet the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees (e.g., MSc, MPhil) with substantial professional, clinical, or research experience in dentistry, oral health, or a closely related field may also be considered. A PhD degree is preferred.
  • Strong research background with a publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Expertise in one or more of the journal’s focus areas, including but not limited to clinical dentistry, dental biomaterials, translational research, oral microbiology, and digital dentistry.
  • Prior experience in peer review is desirable, though not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in critically evaluating scientific manuscripts for originality, methodology, and scientific contribution.
  • Ability to complete reviews within 2–3 weeks.
  • Excellent command of academic English.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards in the peer-review process.
  • Familiarity with digital manuscript submission and peer-review systems is a plus.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a reviewer for JCTD, you will play an integral role in upholding the journal’s academic excellence. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate submitted manuscripts to determine their originality, scientific soundness, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Identify potential issues related to plagiarism, data fabrication, conflicts of interest, or ethical concerns related to human or animal research.
  • Offer clear, actionable, and respectful comments that help authors improve their work
  • Suggest acceptance, revision (major or minor), or rejection based on the manuscript’s scientific merit and overall quality.
  • Do not disclose or use the content of any manuscript under review for personal or professional gain.
  • Inform the editorial team if any potential bias or conflict of interest may affect your objectivity.
  • Ensure that manuscripts follow JCTD’s author guidelines, formatting instructions, and ethical policies.

The journal operates under a double-blind peer-review process, and reviewers are expected to provide feedback within 21 days of receiving a manuscript.

 Term of service

The initial term of appointment for reviewers is two years, with an option to renew based on mutual agreement and performance. Reviewers are generally expected to review three to five manuscripts per year, depending on availability and manuscript volume. Workload is distributed equitably, and reviewers can opt out of specific assignments when needed. High-performing reviewers may be invited to join the journal’s editorial board or serve as guest editors for special issues, offering expanded professional recognition and leadership opportunities.

  • A cover letter (up to 1,000 words) explaining why you are interested in joining the JCTD reviewer team and how your qualifications align with the journal’s scope. The letter should also include your areas of expertise and research interests.
  • An updated CV, highlighting your academic qualifications, research experience, and any previous experience as a reviewer for scholarly journals.
  • Links to your professional profiles on platforms such as ORCID, Scopus, ResearchGate, Google Scholar, or Web of Science (if available).
  • A list of your research interests or areas of expertise, which will help us assign manuscripts that match your field of expertise.
