Qualifications and requirements

  • A strong record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, with a focus on pharmacology, medicine, or medical research.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple manuscripts, engage with authors, reviewers, and other stakeholders, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • A commitment to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required to assess manuscripts effectively and communicate clearly with authors, reviewers, and the editorial team.

Roles and responsibilities

As an editor for JPMR, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the peer review process for submitted manuscripts, ensuring the timely and thorough evaluation of research articles. Your primary tasks will include,

  • Selecting qualified reviewers, overseeing the review process, ensuring the timely completion of reviews, and making editorial decisions based on reviewer feedback.
  • Providing your expert opinion on the scientific merit, originality, and relevance of the research. Offering constructive feedback to authors to improve the clarity, quality, and impact of their work.
  • Making final decisions on manuscript acceptance or rejection based on the quality of the research, adherence to ethical standards, and overall contribution to the field.
  • Ensuring that all manuscripts meet the journal’s ethical standards, including checking for plagiarism, conflicts of interest, and data integrity.
  • Participating in strategic discussions with the editorial board to shape the journal’s long-term direction, editorial policies, and special issues.
  • Helping to enhance the visibility of the journal by encouraging submissions from high-quality researchers, participating in special issues, and contributing to the journal’s outreach efforts.

Term of service

The term of service for this editorial position is initially two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and mutual agreement. As an editor, you will be expected to dedicate time and effort to managing the review process, overseeing a set number of manuscripts per year, and actively contributing to the editorial board’s decisions. The exact number of manuscripts you will handle will depend on the journal’s submission volume.
